Lamp

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Effects of SCP-XXXX seem to only occur after primary viewing. Exploiting this, SCP-XXXX is to be set on a raised platform in a locker with opaque shielding covering all four sides around the platform. Any non-flammable material may be used if shielding falls loose or gets damaged. The locker should then be checked for proper ventilation and locked.

Two cameras may be used for remote viewing; one is to remain above and the second at some angle to capture at least 2 sides of the platform/object. If a camera malfunctions it should be replaced in an orderly manner. In the event that both cameras are down, caution is to be exercised when replacement occurs. This is due to the possibility of SCP-XXXX emitting a non-negligible amount of heat to its surrounding environment and in-turn causing shorts in the electronics, which may or may not still be live when the cameras are down.

Update: Shielding should never completely close in on the lamp. This has caused a large amount of excess light and heat which will result in melting, cracking, and/or combustion of containment materials.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be an old-fashioned gas lamp. Since procurement of SCP-XXXX in late 19██’s the lamp has not lost the flame inits center. Anomalous effects have been observed on individuals who viewed the lamp for an extended period of time. Foundation tests have cataloged these effects.

Addendum: (Ex-)Site Director, Dr. Malik, is to no longer have access to SCP-XXXX after it was confiscated from the (ex)director’s personal living space. Dr. Malik decided to keep the lamp for personal gain and winning arguments by inducing adverse effects in people who opposed Dr. Malik. An unknown number of people were subjected to SCP-XXXX’s adverse effects. Those who’ve been recovered and examined by the Foundation have attributed the effects similar to that of our Exposure Test, Acute Exposure.
The lamp, SCP-XXXX, was recovered and officially stored at Site █ as of7/13/20██. Dr. Malik’s personal files on SCP-XXXX were reviewed and have been archived.
